Tana River Technical and Vocational College was started in February 2020
The Institute is managed by a 7-member Board of Governors (BOG) appointed by the Cabinet Secretary for Education in accordance with the TVET Act of 2013. The day to day running of the Institute is done by the principal (Secretary to the BOG) assisted by a management team comprising Deputy Principal and Heads of Departments. In total there are 8 members of staff.
As a TVET institution, the Institute has 5 admitting departments and a number of other support departments that facilitate the smooth delivery of TVET training and research, the key mandate and products of the Institute.
The Institute is Registered and licensed by TVETA with a training capacity of 1200 students. It has over 10 tuition rooms, 3 computer labs and over 5 workshops and laboratories for various trades. A spacious library (940 m2 floor space with an E-section that can accommodate 100 computers to provides a rich reference resource for training and research.
